On the road

by funnylittlestories

An early morning allowed me to experience the first impressions of London. It was drizzling and a bit grey, It has been for the past week. I wore my green parka as it is the only jacket I have with a hoodie. And it is cozy. I usually have baby assessments in the lab on Mondays but we have to travel 2 hours outside of London to see a family today. I could feel my eyes feeling a little sleepy and my heart beating a bit quicker. I always get excited to be on the road, especially in the train. It is a strange period. You want to go from place 1 to place 2 but in between, you are in a period where you are just waiting. Most people read a book, listen to music or do something they enjoy to pass time. My supervisor and I chatted for a bit and soon, I realized that we have left London. There were fields of green, yellow and brown. I could see white fluffs on the big wide fields. I take it that they are sheep. I have always wondered about petting a sheep but was told that it is not fluffy and soft, rather rough actually. It would be nice to stay in a cottage somewhere over a weekend to experience England in a completely different way and I allowed myself to dream a little. I have been staying in the city for the pass few months and sometimes I forget how liberating it is to see the countryside. It was beautiful.

A bit more living.

by funnylittlestories

This is a story about a family always on the go and exploring somewhere new every day. It definitely takes a lot of guts to give up everything you own in the society to live freely and so passionately in this world.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day!

by funnylittlestories

Today is the day London survived almost being blown up by this little man called Guy Fawkes 400 years ago. Thanks to him, we are all able to enjoy pretty patterns in the sky.

Pretty as a Daisy

by funnylittlestories

Most of my close friends know that I am in love with London markets. Visiting markets was a weekly occasion. One of the most interesting and definitely nicest smelling one is the Columbia Flower market in Hoxton. It is a street filled with flower for a really good price. The area seems to be blooming with local artists that has a Welsh influence as well. I brought a friend over to pick up some herbs where I got mine. I have three pet herbs – basil, moroccan mint and rosemary. I have used the basil in my pasta and rosemary with my potatoes once. They are super fresh and yummy! I am always so tempted to buy flowers when I visit as they are too pretty but I end up buying food instead after. If you were there, you may be tempted too!

Buona Sera Jam, Chelsea

by funnylittlestories

I enjoy finding yummy and quirky places around London and stumbled upon this cute little restaurant in Chelsea. The place is relatively small, narrow but the concept is rather cool. It is set up to have ladders up to a second seating above the floor. Most people preferred sitting upstairs and we did too! It was quite exciting climbing the little steps up to our table. I would say that I enjoyed the experience more than the food. They serve pretty average Italian food but the price is good for a restaurant in Chelsea.

The Liews.

by funnylittlestories

We have the same last name and sat in the same class at 13. It was fate that she was sitting in front of me with a similar name to mine. Her name is Emilia Liew Shien-Ni, one of my favorite people in the world. We were so into charmed sisters that we thought we were secretly witches and created spells. It sounds silly but all in the name of good fun. This summer, we added more memories into our friendship book.

Bits of my heart

by funnylittlestories

My family has molded and shaped me into the person I am today. As I grow older, I have learned to play different roles in the family. At times, I should be the good daughter, sometimes a caretaker for my grandpa, a friend to my cousins, a big sister to the little ones. This is one of the perks of having brought up in the big tight-knit family. Though miles apart, I keep them close in thoughts and prayers.

Baby blue

by funnylittlestories

I started sleeping with my blinds up to wake up to natural light in the morning. I figured that it has to be good for my body and a better way to wake up. I just didn’t realized how happy I would be. Well that happened today. Thank god for big windows, I was blessed with clear light blue skies first thing in the morning. I couldn’t help but to smile like a child with a massive lollipop. It definitely started my morning well.

I guess everyone has something little that makes them giggly inside. Big trees have the same effect on me. I also get really excited to see my cup of tea when I pour milk into it. Before it becomes light brown, I see a pretty pattern, like a growing cloud in my tea. Those are few little things that put a smile on me!
