It took about 2 hours train ride for us to get from London to Manchester today. I was told that Manchester is like a mini London. The city seems quite developed and well, I actually didn’t spend a lot of time in the city. We drove to old stratford and visited the Manchester united stadium instead. The stadium was great and massive! We took a tour inside the stadium and got a taste of what it is like to be in there. I promised myself that I will go to a football game in the two years that I am here. The day was really beautiful and sunny. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Shanxi, China is a tiny city compared to Beijing or Shanghai but it is riched in their own rustic culture and beauty.
I feel blessed to have been to this part of the world, to be able to see and experience a different culture than my own. Traveling is definitely one of the best healing and learning activities. And of course, my trip ended with yummy baked cheesecake from Haagen Daz. Life is only complete with desserts.

Some personal experiences in Shanxi, China:
1. Babies have their butt exposed so that they could poop whenever they have to.
2. Helmets are not required.
3. Toilet doors that can lock are rare.
4. Rice is not staple, Chinese buns are.
5. Honks are probably the first thing they check in a new car.
6. Yes, it is true. Chinese in China eat dogs.
7. Smoking areas – everywhere except listed on the sign.
8. The rich are rich, the poor are really poor.
9. There is a guan gong (Chinese deity) in almost every car.
10. People are generally friendly and ask where you are from.

Marina Bay

by funnylittlestories

Marina Bay Sands is of the newly developed hotel/mall/casino in Singapore. The place was beautiful, I kinda wished I stayed there instead! Haha.. I did lose some money in the casino but shopped around in the mall. Right after, we visited Gardens by the Bay. The garden is located by the bay, hence the name! It was designed to look modern and intriguing with the big tall tree looking structures! It was fun!

Pulau Penang

I went back to Penang, my hometown the past weekend to visit some relatives. It has been two years since I last visited the island. The place is beautiful as always and definitely brought back some of my favorite childhood memories.

Tropical Rainforest

Today is one of those days where sleep was not an option. At 3am, I woke up from my comfy bed to support Germany’s game against holland! I’d like to think that I played a part in their victory 🙂 anyways, I took an hour nap after and had to hurry to meet my friend Jeremy for a hike at Bukit Gasing. The hike was definitely not what I expected it to be. It was more fun and challenging! We actually got lost a couple of times and came across a black Python and a huge centipede! Being in the forest gave me a sense of peace and made me realized how beautiful my country is!

Nothing beats eating Roti Canai on a banana leaf after a fun hike!

Mother nature is great.

Past weekend, my family and I visited Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. My heart actually skipped a beat when I stepped out of the tour bus. The view was amazing and it felt surreal standing at the edge of the canyon. Unfortunately, we only had two hours to hike and explore. I definitely want to visit here again with the boy.
